Sustainability
Astins takes an approach to environmental issues that reinforces their importance as a fully integrated part of the construction process. They are given the same weight as other key issues in the construction process such as Health & Safety, Quality Control, Project Delivery and Cost Control.
The company has introduced a comprehensive Environmental Management System (EMS) on all its sites. The system is based on a programme of continuous improvement throughout the company. Its primary aim is to drive down wastage of construction materials, especially plasterboard and metal which have a high CO2 profile.
Astins became ISO 14001 accredited in October 2008. A copy of the company's environmental policy can be downloaded here.
